We are interested in understanding issues that impact people with ostomies. We are gathering data on perceptions, experiences and obstacles that people with an ostomy face in their everyday lives. We examine perceptions of medical provider communication, and patient education upon receiving the pouch. Long-term goals for this project are possible changes to hospital processes and discharge procedures at hospitals in an effort to provide optimal care for new ostomates.
